Cookin' With Coals

Mammoth Springs State Park showcased Dutch Oven cooking today. This is a genre of cooking that I have wanted to take part in for a long while. Not only is it a fun hobby for the whole family, but it also brings the nostalgia of days gone by while providing a different avenue for entertaining friends.

Pre-1840's outdoor kitchen

A typical fur trapper's abode and kitchen.
They met at the Rendezvous until around 1840
when the pelts were no longer in demand.

My favorite competing team. This is a group of truck drivers who met and have remained fast friends over the years. They initially met through CB Radio while driving the highways of Arkansas. Having found a common interest, they come together with their families and host Dutch Oven events for their friends and extended family. They were truly unique in their approach to this hobby which they so evidently love.

That was so much fun! I think that the primitive cookers were the neatest.
